And to celebrate and as a countdown, I’m hoping (if Homeschoolblogger will cooperate, they have had technical issues lately) to show a new quick project for each day. Either something to do with your children, an ornament or decoration, or a gifty type of thing. And I am going to include a youtube video for a Christmas carol each day to keep those warm feelings strong .
To start, here is a great version of The Little Drummer Boy.
Today’s project is an ice scraper mitt. A nice quick gift that can be completed in a couple of hours.
I used this pattern . First a quick note about the pattern. When she says back post only sc, it really means back LOOP only sc. Once that was figured out the pattern was super easy. I modified it a bit to make the front rounded and not square. If you are interested in my mods, here they are:
Changes starting at row 15:
(15) Ch 1, exsc next 6 sts, dec twice next 4 sts, exsc next 12 sts, dec twice next 4 sts, exsc next 6 sts, join.
(16) Ch 1, exsc next 5 sts, dec twice next 4 sts, excs next 10 sts, dec twice next 4 sts, exsc next 5 sts, join.
(17) Ch 1, exsc next 4 sts, dec twice next 4 sts, exsc next 8 sts, dec twic next 4 sts, excs next 4 sts, join.
(18) Ch 1, excs next 3 sts, dec twice next 4 sts, excs next 6 sts, dec twice next 4 sts, exsc next 3 sts, join. Fasten off leaving a long end to stitch tighter around scraper.
So there you are, a really quick and easy gift that you can whip up for someone special in your life. Someone special with icy windows 🙂
