Today’s Carol would have gone perfectly with yesterday’s Scripture verse.  It’s a really cute song.

A fun idea to do with the children is to make a gingerbread house (Target has them on sale right now) or a cookie tree.  In our home we are making cookie trees.  Each child gets there own tree to decorate.  For cookie trees use graduated star cookie cutters   (I bought my set for $3 from Walmart), cutting out two of each shape, 3 of the smallest star.  Then stack them on top of each other using frosting as the glue.  Then using frosting and candies (or dried fruit if you are more health concious) let the children decorate.  So fun and much easier than gingerbread houses.

Here is a cute idea to make jar candles that can be done quickly.  If you are even more pressed for time, purchase some of the ready made jar candles and decorate them to make them more special.

Today’s scripture is:

2 Corinthians 1:3-7

New International Version (NIV)

Praise to the God of All Comfort 3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 5 For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. 6 If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. 7 And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.

Yes, a time where we need solitude.  Time alone to get our eyes back where they belong, on Jesus.  Our very reason for life.  So during this time where life is so hectic and crazy and you are starting to feel frazzled, grab some cocoa or coffee, open your Bible and spend time with your Father.  Seek renewal and comfort from the Lord and then go out and share your joy and peace with the world!
